When no one wanted to pay attention to the punk rock scene in Los Angeles, filmmaker Penelope Spheeris created a rockumentary in 1979/80 that chronicles the ignored rise of legendary bands like Black Flag and the Circle Jerks.

This 1981 "rockumentary" follows the punk rock scene in Los Angeles between 1979 and 1980.

The film features concert footage of legendary LA punk bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Catholic Discipline and the Germs, and interviews with band members and fans, and explores a music subculture that was largely ignored by the mainstream music press at the time.
