Every year Easter weekend, April 11 & 12, brings the
Orchid/Bromeliad Display & Sale to Flamingo Gardens from
9:30-4:30. Superb orchids and bromeliads are available at
fantastic prices direct from the growers along with supplies,
expert advice and tips to make caring for the splendid blooms
easy. If you are new to orchids, the special presentation
"Orchids for Beginners" in both English and Spanish will get you on
your way to tending to these wonderful blooms which are easier to
grow than you think.
The Bunny visits, with treats while supplies last, from 9:30-12 for
a photo opportunity with the children, so bring your camera for a
keepsake photo.
Admission is 1/2 price, only $8.50 for ages 12 and up, $4.25 for
children 4-11. Children under 4 are free. The event is
included in admission, as well as the botanical gardens,
free-flight aviary with 43 species of birds, Birds of Prey exhibits
including bald and golden eagles, owls and hawks. The
wildlife sanctuary also includes exhibits with flamingos, panthers,
bobcats, otters, as well as alligators, tortoises and
turtles. Wildlife Encounter Shows are presented live at
12:30, 1:30 and 2:30. Tour historic 1930s Wray Home from
10-4. The 20-minute narrated tour by tram, which runs on the
hour from 11 to 4, is additional. Food and beverages are
available. Visit the courtyard Gift Shop and Garden
Shop. Parking is free.
Flamingo Gardens & Wildlife Sanctuary is a 60-acre paradise
with botanical gardens, which houses and cares for permanently
injured native birds and animals, and provides education programs
for school and camp children. A not-for-profit organization,
it is supported solely by admissions, proceeds from events,
donations, visitor purchases and memberships. Visit the
gardens at 3750 S Flamingo Road, Davie, just 2 miles south of I-596
